If it is about a best player then offcourse-Sachin Tendulkar.

Offcourse,he could not do what was expected by him.But he is greatest in all as per the quality of player overall.

The one and the only Sachin Tendulkar. Others like, Sunil Gawaskar and Kapil Dev have also contributed a lot for Indian Cricket, but no other could not touch the sky as Tendulkar has done so far. Don Bradman has not jokingly compared Sachin with himself. Further more, Sachin is the only cricketer in the world (not only in India), who was able to draw attention of Don Bradman the great to place Sachin in his all time 'Dream Team' of the cricketers of the world. Rahul Dravid is also following him, but it takes a long to achieve what Sachin has already achieved so far.

People can easily type down names like Kapil Dev, Gavaskar,
Sachin, etc...etc by quotuing their performances and by supporting statistcs ( copy -paste efforts from cricinfo/statsguru).

But there is one man who stands above all the dead figures and
performances who really enhanced the spirit and soul of cricket as a good leader and player. He seldom smiles at victories or
grims at failures. He commands respect by his deeds on the cricket field and by his great qualities as a true commander.
If conistency, guts , intelligence and performance are to be weighed in corerct proportions, there can only be one answer to this question. He may not be showing-off , he may not be a hard-hitting batter by modern standards, he may not be a world
class bowler or a fielder . But he is a bit of all these summed into a really great sportsman.

Yes, Rahul Dravid is my answer for this question........
He is a player who should be weighed and measured beyond the frozen figures of statistics and other dumb records.
