i need the best music program that's free. yeah i know im cheap but i wouldnt be paying for it my dad would. lol so yall give me some ideas on THE BEST ONE.

1. Cheap won't give you a lot of features.
2. How about saving & pitching in with your Dad to get something decent. If you get something too simple, you will outgrow it fast & be frustrated that you do not have the tools in the app to do what you want to with.
3. You didn't mention what you were using it for. I am guessing that you want one that will handle both input of Audio instruments, Audio voice & midi sequences. You will need an interface, like MOTU 828 MKIII for that.
4. Are you Mac or PC? I use Logic Pro 7 on a Mac & have plug-ins for effects, etc. It handles the audio & sequencer end. I've been using it for about 16 years. It's expensive. There's a lesser version called Logic Express.
5. Sound Forge is good, also. Pro Tools.
6. First have your Dad take you to the local Music Store that sells everything from musical instruments to software apps. Explain your computer situation, and tell them what you would like to be able to do with the music app. They can list a bunch of options for you. Many, too, for a small fee will hook everything up for you at your home & install the software.
7. Attach nonmetal tags to each cable you hook in so that if you ever have to move your setup, you can easily reassemble (plugging things in where they belong) it again.

I use Ares and it's free, amazing, awesome :] I can generally find any song I want to hear. It also allows you to download movies and pictures and tv show episodes. Google it and you'll be able to find it!

YOU MEAN DONWLOADING MUSIC TO YOUR COMPUTER? IN THAT CASE LIMEWIRE IS THE BEST ONE TRUST ME I UES IT A LOT AND I DONT HAVE MANY SPYWARE. JUST GO TO WWW.LIMEWIRE.COM AND FOLLOW THE STEPS UUUHH DON'T SAY THAT YOU WANT THE PROGRAM FOR ILEGAL USE.
