On Sept 18 & 19, 2001 the Taliban offerred to give B. Laden to a nuetral country because of 911.

They had two stipulations:
1. That he be given a fair trial. That's why a nuetral country.
2. That they receive international recognition for this cooperative action.

Bush's answer was and I quote, "No negotiations. Hand him over or else."

With that said, we, the USA, should have accepted that offer. That is how we should have handled the events of 911. If this would have happened, we would not be in Iraq today and I highly doubt we would have even had to go into Afghanistan... although, depending on terrorist cells, we might have.

Irregardless, if Bush had just accepted B.Laden from the Taliban, the world would be a completely different place today.

I don't really understand what you're asking. I also don't understand your statement about how 9/11 hit New York and not people from another country. Are you insinuating that a date in the calender flew the planes and crashed into the twin towers, the Pentagon, and in Pennsylvania. I'll assume that you're asking about the situation in the Middle East. So I'll answer that.

We just handed the reigns over to the Iraqi military. We'll see how that goes and proceed from there. We really can't f**k up any more than we already have. But i'll knock on wood on that, things could get even worse now that Pakistan struck a "peace" deal with Al Qaeda. We seriously need to get Halliburton out of there, let honest companies make bids to rebuild the infrastructure in Iraq. I seriously hated the fact that as a soldier in the US Army deployed in Iraq making close to $30,000, that a Halliburton security guard was making near six figures. Hmm, and we were doing the same job. But I digress. Rebuild the infrastructure, take a page out of the reconstructure of post WWII Germany and Japan, and get the hell out of there. Let Iraqi's kill Iraqi's, not American's kill and be killed by Iraqi's. Focus our attention on Afghanistan, and seriously make an effort to hunt down Mr. Bin Laden.

Well, we can punish the country they came from (Saudi Arabia). But that seems unlikely.

Or we can go after the people directly. But so far, that hasn't proven to be successful.

Or we can randomly attack and threaten any Middle Eastern country we don't like. Which seems to be the current plan.
