It was originally meant to be the B-single for Keep It Together (last single of Like A Prayer album). Warner then realized this was a potential hit so they released it as a single (good idea, coz it was a smash #1 hit all over the world). Since it was such a hit they put it as bonus track on "I'm Breathless", the album inspired by the movie Dick Tracy. One year later it was put on her compilation The Immaculate Collection.

madonna made a cd based off of the role she portrayed in the Dick Tracy film with Warren Beatty.
SO this would be the true ALBUM the song was on.
