I think it might be illegal to prevent someone from using the restroom on the job but in a public place such as a convenience store it is up to the owner whether or not anyone other than employees are allowed to use the facilities. If the restroom is marked as a public restroom there shouldn't be an issue with it unless it's out of order and then it's a potential health hazard.

Not a law, a toilet is private property and the owner of such may permit or deny the use of such as they please. However if there is a sign indicating that it is a public restroom and the owner unreasonable with holds then there may be a case for civil courts. The unreasonable part might be hard to prove and then depending on where you it might fall back to private property offered for public use at the discretion of the owner.

Actually, it goes for both genders. It isn't so much a law, as it is common sense. After all, if someone asks to use the john, and the Man keeps saying no, there is room for a lawsuit there.

Sorry, but there is no such law in the U.S. that I am aware of. Is it discourteous to prohibit a person from using the rest room when they need to? Yes. Is it illegal? Nope.
Hence the phrase, "you should have gone before you left home, then."

Are you in grade school or what? Why would you allow anyone to regulate when you can relieve yourself? When I need to go- I go! There's not a person on this planet that will tell me otherwise!
Your employer does NOT own you and slavery was abolished so whats the problem???? Stand on your own two feet and get a back bone!!!!!!!!! And to add to your question, NO ONE yells, screams or uses profanity toward me either!!! I'm not a school child!!!

Although it is unhealthy to "hold it in" for extended periods, there is no law requiring someone to let you use a toilet. The only laws are those that require toilet facilities be provided in certain commercial businesses. Most of the time, toilets are provided for customer convienence anyway. In those instances, access to the toilet can be at the businesses discretion. Also, when they are required to provide toilets, the catch is to provide toilets for customers (i.e. you are paying to be there).
Toilet requirements depend on local building codes. There are also ratios of number of toilets/urinals to number of employees/customers.

I don't think its illegal to deny a woman use of the restroom.
Of course, I bet its illegal to deny a woman the right to clean the restroom either. The bible says that a woman has to know her place, and that place is on her knees, scrubbing the toilet.
