I have worked in over a down jobs in the last 15 years in the UK.

On the whole the experience was nasty, usually because of:

a. boredom 2. power-seeking co-workers/managers 3. rotten pay 4. useless managers 5. Being prevented from making decisions 6. Pettiness. 7. Stupid regulations

Have others found it quite as grim?

I've worked for BT for the last 35 years, from when it was part of the GPO in fact. I have to say that over the last 15 years it's slowly got worse. The problem is that during those 15 years the work force has dropped from well in excess of a quarter of a million nationally, to a tad over 100k. The pressure is well and truly on those that are left. And yet those who were a bit older than me who retired early are all smiles whenever I bump into them. The particular department I work in, there were five managers and twenty-five staff locally. There are now three of us oiks and our manager works in the West Mids. During that time I've lost count of the number of managers I've had, at least a dozen and we are reorganised about every eight or ten months. I am sick to the back teeth with corporate bullshit. Just 48 months to go.

I worked from when I was 18 until I was 65. There were ups and downs but overall I enjoyed it. If you have tried a number of jobs and found them much the same I would suggest that the common factor is you.

I've worked in the U.S. and in the U.K. I found the people I worked with in the U.K. to be much friendlier than in the U.S. The jobs themselves were worse. At one job, my co-workers were bullied by higher-ups. At my last job, staff were expected to work unlimited hours.

It could be worse....look at people who work in sweatshops for 50p a day!

I have to say there are a lot of nasty people out there who make it their job to make other peoples live a misery!

What goes around comes around....karma!
