The September 11, 2001 attacks (often referred to as 9/11—pronounced "nine eleven") consisted of a series of coordinated suicide terrorist attacks upon the United States, predominantly targeting civilians, carried out on Tuesday, September 11, 2001.
That morning, 19 men affiliated with al-Qaeda[1] hijacked four commercial passenger jet airliners. Each team of hijackers included a trained pilot. Two planes (United Airlines Flight 175 and American Airlines Flight 11) crashed into the World Trade Center in New York City, one plane into each tower (One and Two). Both towers collapsed within two hours. The pilot of the third team crashed a plane into the Pentagon in Arlington County, Virginia. Passengers and members of the flight crew on the fourth aircraft attempted to retake control of their plane from the hijackers; that plane crashed into a field near the town of Shanksville in rural Somerset County, Pennsylvania. Excluding the 19 hijackers, a confirmed 2,973 people died and another 24 remain listed as missing as a result of these attacks.

Read the 911 commission report. Abstract: 19 arabs hijacked 4 passenger jets. Crashed 2 into the world trade center, 1 into the pentagon and 1 crashed in Pennsylvania. Osama Bin Laden appears to be the mastermind and is the current representation of fanatic Islam which despises america. 3000 people died, which includes firefighters and policeman, along with the people in the buildings and planes.
There are many versions regarding various conspiricies explaining the why and how, but the above is the officially accepted version, and there is little reason not to accept it, except for the cell calls in Flight 93, but I digress.

I lost two female cousins in the twin towers that day. I relive it often, but no longer in anger,,,just frustration.
I had the TV on, and watched as the plane crash was first broadcast. I knew my cousins were in that, and felt a deep sense of immediate loss. After the fact I spent the day on the phone with the children of those cousins, and could do nothing but feel anger, and impotence, to have any effect on helping.
YOU truly don't NEED the details,,, but I assume if you have a TV and watch it, you'll see plenty this weekend and beyond.
Actually I suggest you should count it as a good thing your memory of it is vague. Our economy is driven by war,,or conflict at the very least. Isn't it time we consider progressing, evolving, rather than causing the extinction of our species,,,and others?
I answered a Q,,maybe yesterday, from someone who asked about being good for goodness sake,, and/or always considering consequences for our actions. I'd like to believe,,and no real offense to any Muslims, or sects that feel violence is a means to an end,,, That to DIE, in the process of causing others to DIE is a free ticket to their heaven,,, but I am of a different opinion.

I was in eighth grade. It was fourth period, I was in Chinese class. Our principal came on the intercom and told us that the World Trade Center towers had been attacked; I don't remember if they had fallen yet, or if they had just been hit, we were really a bit too young to fully grasp what had happened. A kid in my class left to go to the guidance counselor because his dad worked nearby. He was okay, though. A little bit later in the day my mom came and picked my sister and I up and took us home. I live in central NJ, about 40 minutes from NYC, so we were close enough to be scared something might hit us. I just remember coming home and the news was on all day. My brother, who was four at the time, had no idea what was going on. He saw the towers collapse over and over (they kept replaying it) and he asked what movie we were watching, and why did buildings keep getting blown up?
I can't believe it's been five years already.

4 planes were trying to hit main points in the United States, (The White House, The Pentagon, The Twin Towers, and one hit a field). Over 2,000 Americans died. A very fateful day.

i was watching an episode of montel, at my apartment. my husband (then fiance) was at work and called me to ask me what i thought of what was going on. i had no idea what he was talking about so i changed the channel to find the news. this was before the second plane hit. as i was on the phone with him, the second plane flew into the building. that was freaky to watch. i went to my mom's house after a bit to see what she was thinking. while i was there, we watched the buildings collapse. it was very eerie, very disturbing, very shaking and angering. i thought about going to new york but i knew i'd never be able to take the time from work. i think it's funny-the things you remember. i remember i was watching montel, i remember what i wore that day, i remember that i stopped at the gas station to get gas....it's very strange.
