I have read that if you have a thick discharge that is brownish or blood tinged that it is your mucus plug. I have been having a very thick discharge but it is a yellow color, no blood. Do you think that I am losing my mucus plug? I am 38 weeks pregnant.

Your mucus plug, will look just like it sounds, very mucousy. It really looks just like a big ball of snot, sorry for the gross interpretation. It can have blood in it, or be brownish, which is just old blood. It doesn't mean your gonna go into labor or anything, it could still be a day to several weeks, depending on your due date and how accurate it is. It is also normal to have an increase in your normal discharge at the end, but if yellow isn't your norm, then go get it checked out, could be an infection.

It depends... is the discharge creamy or is it jelly-like & stringy??? Your plug CAN come out in little bits, but it is slimy & stringy & doesn't always have blood. The thing is ... you can lose your plug a week or so before even going into labor. until your water breaks, or you are feeling strong contractions & dilating = you may have a little while to go still. I am anxious too .... I am almost 39 weeks & READY!

Yes, it probally is with you being 38 weeks. The mucus plug can vary from a clear, yellow, or bloodish color, depending on person. Good luck and hope you the best.

GONGRATS on your little one. It could be but prob. not. It could be just about anything. If your really worried I would go to your doc. I had some discharge also when I was about that far along. The doc said that I was having tooooooo much sex and that I should just chill out for a while. I don't know if that worked cause I had him shortly after.

Just make sure to tell your doc. don't be embarrassed! It may be the mucus plug but if there is a slight smell you may also have a yeast infection . so just let the doc know just in case

If it's yellow does it smell very bad? If so it could be an infection and you should get it checked out immediately!

No sweetie. It's not. In order for it to be there has to be blood. When your mucus plug comes loose, It tears away from your body. So there should be blood adn if there is no blood, then it is simply discharge. Nothing to be worried about. I have a cousin who did not lose her mucus plug until the night she delivered. Everything comes in it's own time when it comes to babies. No matter how fast we may want them to come, It's simply whenever they decide.

I'm not sure. Is it at least a rusty yellow or just plain yellow? I imagine you might be shedding a few of it's edges, but when you lose it, you will at least see some marbling of pink, red or rusty brown if not more of the color.
