Why would the mother of a child need to adopt that child at all ?

If it is her child, she doesn't have to adopt. If it is not, she needs the consent of the parents involved. Her husband may or may not be involved in the adoption, but few courts would like the idea of her adopting a child when her husband is hostile to the idea.

So I'm not really sure what you are talking about.

Hi i think they have to have his consent if she actually knows the childs father, but if the fahter does not want anything to do with the child and doesnt even have contact with your child then i dont think so. You should find out about adoption, and that will tell you.

If by adopt you mean to take sole Legal and Physical Custody of the child, yes, contact your local Family Courts.

if its your child you dont have to adopt , you have all legal rights, if its his, he has to sign off his rights and assign them to you, and a court can challenge it at anytime on the basis of complaints from his family or anyone who thinks you're unfit for any reason
