If you're looking for wickedly clever pun-laden lyrics which also don't shirk the Big Questions of life...Ian Anderson [who more-or-less is Jethro Tull] is The Man.
Besides Aqualung, the other absolute musts are A Passion Play and Thick As A Brick.

Are you kidding? Jethro tull is probably the most innovative music ever made. I have every single album, on album. Been listening to Jethro tull since I've been able to walk. Nothing sounds better when I'm feeling down than the "Stand Up" album patricularly the song "Bouree". I've seen Jethro tull four times, the first time was around 1979, and the last time in 2000. Ian is getting old, but his music is timeless poetry.

The Tull were led by Ian Anderson, who still gigs. My fave album is 'Minstrel in the gallery', the song 'one white duck on the wall' is sublime ! Enjoy.
