I mostly like romance stories that go back in time with earls and lords. My favs are The knight in shining armor by Jude Deveroux and No mans Mistress, More than a Mistress by Mary Balough. Most of them start with a man and a woman disliking each other, then further in the story fall madly in love. So maybe based off that info, you can help me find another great book similar to those.

There are some fantastic historical romances available. Here are a couple of my recommendations:

1. Anything by Diana Gabaldon (start with Outlander). Her largest group of novels is set in mid-1700's Scotland. She writes some of the absolute best historical novels out there.

2. Another great series of historical romances is written by a R. Garcia y Robertson, and starts with the book "Knight Errant". Its a time-travel romance where a modern day woman is sent back to 15th century England during the War of the Roses.

3. Lastly, check out Michael Faber's "The Crimson Petal and the White". Set in Victorian England, it is not your typical "romance" novel per se, but it is one of the best novels I've read in a past few years.

My favorite romance novelists are Stephanie Laurens and Julia Quinn. I believe the Viscount Who Loved Me by Julia Quinn, #2 in the Bridgerton family series would fit your description of what you're looking for. All of the Bridgerton series is good. There are 8 in all.

Stephanie Laurens is a great writer too. I haven't read everything she's written, but the six or so I've read I've really enjoyed.

"A Fine and Private Place", by Peter Beagle - I've never read anything like it before. I'm not a fan of romance stories, but I LOVED this one.
