As long as the cat or dog doesn't have an illness it's self that can be spread to humans there are actual studies that show that animals can help sick/ill people heal faster! These studies have been so well taken by the medical community that many hospitals now allow pets to visit their sick owners!

No, isn't bad to be around your pets when ill. In fact, you probably feel better to have their company. They will sympathize with you.
