after the 5th track it makes a clicking sound and wont play. i think theres something there keeping it from playing after that point but not sure.

Maybe because your batteries are going dead that's what was wrong with mine.

Well it's either your CD player or your CD. Because when a CD is scratched, it won't play after a certain number of songs.

Have you tried different cds?
If you already have, try a CD cleaning kit. If the player is older, or used often, the laser might need to be cleaned.
