These are my answers because the numbers on the left of the negative-positive numberline is greater than the right numbers.

the greater # = farthest from 0 if it is positive but the greater # is the 1 closer 2 0 if it is a negative

I like that you asked the 'how' question. That's the most important for when you have your test!

1. Remember that negative numbers are always smaller than positives and zero.

2. Think of negatives like owing money. Is it better to owe 8 dollars (-8) or 4 dollars (-4) ? Whichever is better is the greater number!

(for all the 'pure' mathematicians, yes, i can make money examples for any closed operation.)

If one number is a negative and one is a positive the positive will always be greater. If both are negative then ignore the negative sign and whichever one is the smaller number is greater. If both of the numbers are positive the bigger number is greater. A zero is always greater than a negative number and less than a positive number.

the last one is tricky, i'd say 0

with negative numbers, its the number closest to 0 that's greater. with positive numbers, u should know.
