The word apiary comes from the Latin word for a bee - apis. The Romans kept bees because the valued the honey they produced. The place they kept them was called a apiarium. This is where we get our modern dat word apiary. It has no relationship to the word ape.

So nice try but apes live in the jungle or the zoo!

Well I do not care what anyone has said. I keep all eleven-teen dozen of my apes in a beeiary out back. It is a tough squeeze and poor old Mongo always feels a bit cramped in the back but it is really the most comfortable beeiary I could find them on short notice.

I tried to fit them all in an apiary the one year but it all got very confusing. All these funny little honey monkeys running around tasting themselves all day... Now that I come to think of it, that actually sounds like fun. Anyone have any empty apiary's for sale?

Oooo.. apes don't live in the ocean?

....uh, never mind that ape floating face-down then. He's - uh, supposed to be motionless.
