I live in Los Angeles and have several tattoos. My experience is that tattoos work out to about $100 per hour. Your design sounds like it would take about an hour. Don't forget to factor in a tip if you really like the artist.

our american tattooist charges $100/hr plus the cost of ink, an extra $50 for his own design or an extra $25 if he refines your own design. our english tattooist charges us £50 for any tattoos smaller than his palm and £50 per session for any that take more than one session to complete. both have been tattoo artists for about 25 years and they're both very talented. not sure what our english tattooist charges everyone else but he's been a family friend since my hubby was a young lad so i suspect we're getting a reduced price.

where i go it costs me £40 for an hours work and anything after that will cost another £40 if he goes more that that he is just ripping you off dont ask how much it is to get your tattoo ask how much it is for an hour and then get yours done it works out cheaper and it is less painful maybe get it done in 2 hourly sessions and i think £40 is about $100 oh and it maybe a bit more if there is alot of colour as mine are all black so add no more than $40

Every artist will be different; the better the artist the more expensive it is.
Follow this rule:
A cheap tattoo is good and a good tattoo isn't cheap!

it really varies from shop to shop and artist to artist. The more well known and talented the artist the more you can expect to pay. Basically draw or have someone draw the design for you and shop around.

You can get quality work done for as little as $20, just make sure that they use sterile equipment!!! For what you want you should expect to pay around $150-$250.
