The tag on the trees says 4 feet apart, but i planted them 3 feet apart, hoping they will close up quicker. Am I doomed?

You aren't doomed hon, but your tree is going to need that much area to branch out, how big are your trees now? Is it too late to spread them? If you can I would space them even five feet apart, that is how mine are and they touch just a little...perfect distance to make a screen.

This is such a common error! Your trees will be too crowded as they mature. Not doomed but not good. Is it too late to dig up and re-space? That would be my advice. If they went in this spring, I'd say, move 'em now. The recommended spacing will give you the thick hedge you want; be patient!
