I'm from the UK and when we use the term 'skinny', it means extremely thin, ie less than a US size 4. When we say fat, it usually means bigger than a US size 12. Slim is a size 4-8 and a size 8-12 is chubby/chunky.
Is the meaning the same in the US or does skinny and fat mean something else? Like skinny means thin or slim and fat means thick?
TIA

well... skinny here is... size 6 on down.
fat well, to us fat is.. 22 on up.
average.. size 7 to size 18.
18 is large but... (i'm talking women's sizes)
men's... 36 waist is like a women's 18 size.
sizes are confusing!
grabs head in pain!
weight wise: (in lbs, pounds) skinny is women: 120, under. (women- 5'6 under)
men: 190 under. if you're 6 ft.
fat? : 6ft. (men) 260lbs.
women: 5'6" 200.

The thing is, you can't go by clothing sizes. For example, in levis somebody may wear a size 11, but in L.E.I's they would wear a size 8. There is no way to judge this.......and plus it depends on a persons height. For example, someone who is 5'11" and a size 11 or 12 would be considered thin, where someone who is 5'3" and a size 11 or 12 would be considered chunky/fat.

Well, im considered skinny and im 5'5 and a size 0-2. (i live in the U.S) Uhm, i consider "fat" to be a woman over 200 lbs thats shorter than 5'2. But remember, its not always about skinny and fat, its about who you are on the inside. (i kno that sounds corny) I mean, would you rather have a cute boyfriend that always cheats on you or an okay boyfriend that will never cheat on you?

In the US, the average woman is about 5'4" and a size 14. A woman who is a 12 is hardly fat.

It is ok to be who you are as long as you are not hurting yourself or others. Part of the process of life is the adjustment to it. You cannot live your life in fear that someone will hurt you. You would bug yourself out with that thinking. When the time is right everything will fall into place. Those who come into your life , be it for Love or Lessons will do so. Maybe one of your lessons is to get over being shy. Most people are attracted to someone who is happy, because they want to be happy. A smile attracts people. When you smile the whole world smiles with you. They want what you have, happiness. Don't worry about being attractive or even sounding like a nerd. Who really cares about that unless they have low self esteem and want to pick on you to make themselves feel better about themselves and they don't know how. Just be you man and the women will come to you if it is meant to be but it helps to be social when she does. Give yourself permission to not be shy. Don't blame others for how you are. Rev. TomCat
