Why doesn't seem that ppl is harder on Micheal Jackson vs. R.Kelly?

R. Kelly has a video tape of him having freaky,nasty butt-naked sex with a minor yet his songs keeps going platium and winning awards.....What;s up with that

R. Kelly never portrayed himself in public as some sort of harmless, childlike innocent - Michael Jackson did, and thus people are more disgusted by the bill of goods they bought in 1983 - also, Kelly never had the kind of mega-stardom Jackson had - so the percentage of people disturbed by Kelly is naturally much smaller
