I am a person who lives with schizoaffective disorder, and to be honest, I'm an ordinary person living a pretty normal life. I have strengths and weaknesses. I have aptitudes for certain things and little capacity for others, all of which has nothing to do with my mental disorder.
The brain is a physical organ of the body, and doctors and scientists are learning more and more all the time about the organic causes of mental illness. These disorders are biological problems just like heart disease, diabetes, or high blood pressure. Your mental health is even affected by your diet, just like all the other problems are.
There is so much stigma surrounding mental illness, and that's just part of our collective consciousness left over from the days, when people thought 'demons' caused people to hallucinate.
Mental Illnesses are brain disorders, and medical treatment works!

An old roommate of my brother's was psychotic, but my brother said he was fine if he took his meds. Unfortunately that wasn't as often as it should have been. My brother said he was just a nasty jerk who he would avoid. He would lock up his belongings and room when his roommate would stop taking his meds. Usually the guys parents could get him to start taking them again, but my brother said it was too much work living with him.

Yes my ex. But I guess he'd be closer to a sociopath. Had the greatest smile, but it turns out there wasn't anything behind the smile if you know what I mean. He turned out to be a cold hearted monster, who just married for how it looked, when it didn't look good anymore he just left with out so much as even a I'm sorry.

Yes. My brother-in-law. He already attacked my sister, because he thought she wanted to hurt him. He has a degree in philosophy... a classic!
