is it offensive to have indian mascots?

Did the NCAA correctly ban NCAA mascots? What about mascots such as the farmers or miners, are those offensive to miners and farmers?? Give me real answers here...

i am native american and i find it very offensive cause some of the older and different years are rediculous looking and they are simply mocking native americans, im from cleveland too but i make sure that i break or deface any indians memorbilia that i can!!! so beware indians memorbilia fans!!!

I think it's ridiculus to ban "offensive" mascots such as the Indians. It's not like they are making fun of the individuals or the ethniticity. They are picking the name to represent themselves, and it's part of their school's heritage. What about the "Sooners" or the "Volts", I guess those people should be offended too huh? This banning is just for sue crazy people.

Yes;no oppressed group of people would like the offensive parodies which mascots are; besides farmers and miners are professions. If you had a team called the Hillbillys I assure you the people of Appalachia would be offended or a team called white trailer trash - whites who live in trailers would be offended. This is not deep.

I dont thinks so, my schools mascot is the Indians, i think it is so stupid that people are trying to be so politically correct that they end up making a bigger mess of things.

if they should be banning anything its touchdown jesus and the little leperchaun at notredame...both my parents are 100% irish and im Catholic.....i dont like the fact that there is a rowdy little leperchaun making fun of ireland and stuff and i find it sacreligious to have a touchdown jesus...even tho i <3 notre dame

No, Because its kind of historical or cultural thing for certain colleges But for other (LIKE THE REDSKINS )are very offensive i know because im native american myself --Jesse
