My Slovakian employees tell me they were unfairly booted by the Czech Republik. But not one of them illiterate an reason. They just say they were abandoned. They hate Czechs now and call them names like "stupid donkeys" but they can't tell me why this deep seated hate for their former countrymen.

The only thing they seem greatful for is that it did not turn into a civil war. They feel it might have 'been like Bosnia'. Does this mean there is an ethnic divide between the two countries?

I employ many Slovaks but no Czechs so there is no one voicing the other side.

Can anyone shed any light?

See also, my question on Slovak work ethics. Does this have something to do with the Czech-Slovak split???

Think of it as UCLA and USC. Brethren with some rivalry.

Don't bother trying to figure out the political history of Czechoslovakia. I have summed it up as the Slovaks have been very peaceful & passive. The Czech side benefitted from the hard laboring of the Slovaks. Fact!

Hi, im from Slovakia and i dont think that Czech people are donkeys! I guess your employees are some weird people, dont take them seriously. I think that Slovaks and Czechs have always get on well and the only reason from the split of CSR were personal problems of Mr Meciar and Havel (polititians). Thats all.

i would say that your slovak employees are stupid donkeys, not those from czech repubic. i'm slovak and i don't have no reason to hate czechs..and so it is for many other people...as far as i know..there is no ethnic divide, nothing..the language is a little bit different but you can understand it easily..my uncle is married to a czech girl, they've got 2 children, so what should he do? leave his family and start to hate his wife? don't listen only opinions of your employess, i'm sorry but they are only little stupid racists...
