The following figures appear in the official U.S. Financial Report, released by the Treasury Department:

* The true national debt is $49 trillion, not the $8.3 trillion Bush reported
o That's $156,000 for every citizen, or $375,000 for every working American
o This figure has more than doubled in the past five years
o We paid $327 billion last year on interest alone
* The true 2005 deficit was $760 billion, not the $318.5 billion Bush reported
o This is 6.2% of the GDP, not 2.6%

And if we keep pressing China to revalue its currency, which China is not at all going to oblige, China may turn back and say 'We want to diversify our reserves to other currencies and so we would like to gradually withdraw our investments in US treasury bonds or bills!' That will put the American government on the spot and the adverse impact on the American economy, indeed on the world economy, is anybody's guess!

Guesshe is not lying if he has the government release treasury reports ?

So what social program are you willing to give up to help reduce this debt, how much extra taxes are you willing to pay.

Those are the issues, everyone one wants more government programs, and more and more.

And of course Congress passes all the spending bills, so I guess you need to blame your congressmen for passing all of those spending bills.

Perhaps we should stop paying for 9/11 recovery and Katrina aid. (Two of the greatest disasters in American history.) That will DEFINITELY slow down how much our gov't pays for.

Not to mention all those free-loaders on welfare... (help those who can't, not those who WON'T)
