I was in a cottage-apartment in the Mission District in San Francisco: I'd worked all day and most of the night and was waking up slow & hard after 3 hours of sleep. After 5 minutes of rolling over, stretching & groaning, I flicked on the bedside lamp, turned the TV on (volume low, so as not to wake my girlfriend) and, within 15 seconds, saw the the footage of the first plane impacting the building.

I was working as a book keeper (in Queens, NY) and remember hearing it on the radio and going outside and seeing the smoke of the second one. I'll never forget the look on everyones faces that had to walk from the city. It was the single most scary and sad moment for me. And this year it's hitting me the hardest. I find myself crying alot when I see anything about it. I will have to say New Yorkers are true troopers. The way everyone pulled together to help one another was amazing. I LOVE YOU NY!!!

I was at home on vacation and laying in the bed watching tv, i changed channels and saw the 2nd plane flying into the second tower i thought it was a movie filmed in some other country, it was devastating. That morning was absolutely beautiful though, it was so sunny and so serene outside, (almost eery) just a picture perfect day. I watched the news all day that day ( i have never watched that much news again).

I was sitting in rush hour traffic on my way to work. I had just dropped off my daughter and my dad called to tell me that a plane had just hit one of the towers at the WTC.

Yeah, I was home sick from work so I was actually watching TV when they broke in on an interview with some guy with a "This just in" kind of thing. I called my mom at her job and asked if she thought it might be a terrorist act and we agreed that it was unlikely. I hung up and continued watching the coverage on CBS just as the second plane hit the second tower.

I was on my way to work the morning of 9/11 and remember hearing about it on the radio. I couldnt believer what I was hearing. They had the tv on at work in the breakroom and we were all in there watching it on the news. We were all very numb and a few were crying. It was like a bad horror picture show.

I was in Wal-mart buying school supplies for my daughter who was about to start SK the next day. Some clerk came up and he said, "Bad day for Americans huh?" (I'm in Canada) and I was really snotty I said, "Aw, did they have lower their precious dollar?" If you'll recall, America was on the verge of a major recession just before that and was considering lowering the value of its dollar to help boost the economy. Anyway he directed me to TV deptartment and the entire store was gathered around just staring. Nobody was buying anything after that. I went home and told my husband and he said, "So basically it's World War III?"

I was going to school at Kentucky Christian College, and I was getting ready for Tuesday Chapel - I had the news on. I freaked out b/c I am a military brat. But, everything at my home base was fine!

Things haven't been the same with security here at WPBAF since then.
