TomKat and Brangelina come to mind!

What about the possible psychological effect on these celebrity children? What if it is unethical to treat people (in general) as commodities? What if the money is not given to charity, but is used for personal enrichment?

Fame can have a detrimental effect on adults. What does all this attention do to children, as they grow in awareness? Carol Burnett once said, "I liked myself better before I became Carol Burnett." That is an interesting commentary on fame.

Why not - especially since many/most of the couples then donate the money to charity:
"More Brad Pitt/Angelina Jolie news: The first pictures of the couple's new baby, Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt, hit newsstands worldwide.
The pictures appear in the new issues of People magazine, Hello! in the UK and New Idea in Australia, after what Hello! features editor Juliet Herd calls "a fierce bidding war."
The photos were taken at the Burning Shore hotel in Namibia where the couple have been staying. The photographer has not been identified.
The pictures are so coveted that People is raising its cover price to $3.99, just for the issue.
People paid an estimated $4.1 for the images, which the celebrity couple are donating to as-yet-unnamed charities."

"Following the footstep of fellow celebrity couple, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt who recently sell the photos of their baby daughter for charity, newlyweds Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban are said to do the same thing.
The now pronounced husband-and-wife is planning to sell their wedding pictures with proceeds go to charity. The money from the picture reportedly will be donated to a children's hospital in Australia."

What is ethical??? News people invading privacy. Coal run energy producers who ruin the environment and buy politicians and write their own ticket. The evil rides on the back of greed and competition. These things need to be regulated like the rules in sport. People get in there and so involved they get carried away. Those who advocate unregulated free enterprize are the unethical ones. Many are republicans these days.

Probably not but since when are famous people typically ethical? Oh and rumor has it that Brangelina donated most of the money they made to one of her favorite charities.

When you donate the money from publishing your child's picture to a charity...that's okay.

When you have/adopt children to stay in the spotlight...that's disguisting. Angelina is a freak, and she's setting a trend.

Well, it's a little hinky but, on the other hand they are trying to prevent overzealous paparazzi from attacking them when they go out in public with the baby.

And I also think that the money SHOULD be donated to their favorite legimate charity. (not the "my favorite charity is myself" type.)

If people are crazy to pay money to see your baby, why not.

People against this are those who have babies but nobody wants to pay them for the pictures of their babies.

Would you be against parents being paid handsome money so their babies would appear in commercials of baby products like diapers, milk, etc?

I don't think so because these kids will grow up into thinking they are merchandise, and they do most of the times....
