Fatal Attraction, and other examples come to mind. Should a person say "I love you" only if he or she really means it?

There is most definitely a thin line between love and hate! The emotions of the two are very similar and equally intense. No one should ever tell someone they love them unless they really do and are completely sure about it!When you love someone it shows in everything you say and do.Loving someone means giving your all to the relationship..if it's not mutual and you try to love enough for both of you, that's where the line comes in!And yes if hurt enough..you can end up hating the person as much as you once loved them..if not more.Sadly that sometimes ends in tragedy as we see so often on the news.So..if you don't love someone..be honest up front and say so,no one should be deceived that way.

I think love and hate are more like the two sides of a coin.
Both are intense emotions, and when directed at the same object (person) can 'flip' from one to the other if circumstances in the relationship develop and change drastically.
However, it is the responsibility of each of us to control both emotions. Don't say either 'love' or 'hate' unless you mean it and are prepared to deal with the consequences.

There is definitely a thin line there. And yes, those words should only come out if they are truly meant. The phrase is abused way too often.

Yes, especially if you are codependent. Also, a partner/spouse that you might both love and hate, can make for interesting and exciting sex

The more you love someone, the more they can hurt you. It is a fine line.
