They are plain white chinese take-out boxes that will be used as party favor boxes (filled with candy). I want them to look nicer. It is a 13th birthday party and the colors are orange, fucia, and lime. It is a night party with dancing and swimming. It's a pretty big deal. Please help!!!!!!!!!!

You can buy sticker paper that you can use in your printer. (You can find it at Staples or pretty much any office supply store.) Then you can find pictures, photos, clip art, etc. that are special to your kid, cut them out and stick them on the boxes. You can do individualized ones for each kid, or the same for each kid.

paint the boxes. all over or in an abstract design.
while the paint is still wet add glitter or colored sand for a unique textured effect.

you might even find stickers in a scrap booking section of a craft store to go with a dance & swim theme and each box can have a different scene.

with enougth paitence you can combine both ways to decorate and since the boxes are somewhat durable they can last as a keepsake to remeber the night by.

also cutting a square or shape out of one or two sides can turn the box into a picture frame that if hung up it will spin after the candy is gone.

cool colors by the way!

I would probably glue a few pieces of candy onto the boxes, and some curled ribbon. Don't overdo it though.

Maybe you should have chopsticks sticking out the top, and have the kids pull them out at a certain time (or before they go home). Then, whoever gets a "special" chopstick (painted red on the bottom?) gets a prize. Do NOT let the kids have access to the boxes beforehand.
Or, you could play a game with the chopsticks, like whoever can get the most rice (dried grains) out of a bowl will win a prize.

Leave the boxes plain white. One of the party activities could be having the children paint their own box any way they'd like. Being that they are of age where a big mess shouldn't be much concern, you might also want to get things they can glue to it like glitter, feathers, or beads, you know things like that. Take their pictures even, do they can add them to their own personal box. It's a party favor they will want to keep afterwards (for a long time) and afterwards, you'll be the coolest mom for having thought of this... =)
