One of the most noticeable things that you see when you are entering the New York harbor is the enormous Statue of Liberty. It was given to us by the French as a symbol of friendship, however, there is great meaning to the statue. Over the years, “Lady Liberty” has been a symbolic icon to people all over the world. To some people, her presence means freedom and a new beginning.

During the American Revolution, America probably would not have been able to conquer the British and gain freedom without the help of the French. The French helped plenty by supplying the U.S. with plenty of money, ships, weapons and soldiers to fight against the British. Almost 100 years after the war, the French decided that they had a great deal in common with the US and wanted something to symbolize their close historic ties and their passion for freedom and liberty. During that time, the U.S. and France were even called “The Two Sisters”. So, because of the close bond between the two countries, the French decided that it would be a great idea to show the United States that they are close allies and exemplify the fact that they were also dedicated to the idea of human liberty. There was a great deal of work that was put into creating the statu

Many people believe that the idea of “Lady Liberty” came from Charlotte and others believe that the inspiration came from a previous project he was working on that never got completed. On October 28, 1886, The Statue of Liberty was finally complete for everyone all over the world to admire. There is an exhibit located on the second floor in the pedestal where you can look at old photographs, news articles, videos and much more. To this day, the sculptor’s true inspiration remains a mystery. Her presence in the

New York Harbor is always a reminder to anyone and everyone that she may come into contact with. Over in France, they held lotteries, public events and various fees designed to help raise the money as fast as possible. Since the statue is so immense, it was delivered piece by piece from France all the way to NY.

While visiting the Statue, there are many things that you can do. There were 350 different pieces to assemble in 214 crates, which made it take quite a long time to assemble. It was set so that the Americans were to be in charge of creating the pedestal and the French would be in charge of Lady Liberty herself. In America, there were auctions, prizes, theatrical events and art exhibitions held in order to help pay for their half of the statue. The statue was completed in France in 1884 and was delivered to the NY Harbor in June 1885. Another little known fact is that there are 7 spikes in her crown which stand for the seven sea’s of the world. One of them is that she was originally named, “Liberty Enlightening the World”.

The real argument is most hiring managers won't look past the first page when there are hundreds of applicants. It is better to have one page and something that draws their eye to make you stand out. Having an excellent cover letter helps.

Length isn't what's important.
Someone can write 2 pages, but it's full of nothing.
Write as much as you can.
Discuss all aspects of the subject.
Don't repeat yourself, but make what you are saying perfectly clear.
Then, as long as the writing is good, you'll do fine.
