Consider yourself blessed, that Norton trial will not install. Norton is the very worse junk in the world. Reasons: First Nortons does not know a trojan or virus when your pc is infected. Cleans nothing, finds nothing. Plus what is even worse they know that they are pure junk and believe me they will punish you when you remove the program with add/remove.
You will have atleast 300 fragments of Nortons stuck to all your files like glue. Plus hundreds of other fragments hidden all over your system.
If you click on start, run, type: c://program files, click browse, and open program files, symantec will not allow you to remove. Says "program is being used".
Even if you go to search for files and type in symantec you will not be able to remove files.
You will have to download from www.rosecitysoftware.com their Registry First Aid, this is not a free software. You can use it during the evaluation period to remove all the fragments.
Trust me I my computer engineer was not listening to me when I told him I have my own antivirus system and don't install the Nortons junk. He installed Nortons an it took me two months to find all the fragments and remove to prevent conflicts.
If you really want in my opinion the very best antivirus software in the world, used by the Government of China download the program below.

Will even find a virus in the installer wizard, like "Wise Installer". And will stop the installation while it is being installed and clean. Plus this program always will trace back who installed the trojan.
I had a trojan in and wizard installer. Twister caught the trojan and stopped the installation. I wrote the origianl company and told them the wizard installer had an embedded trojan to steal your data. The company now uses thier own installer.

Norton is JUNK. Stay far away from all norton products.

I agree, Norton is junk. If you are looking for anti-virus (for home) then get AVG Free, http://free.grisoft.com/

why does everyone insist on putting norton on their computers? its a huge program, it takes up a lot of rescourses and its not worth it.
