A little more info might be nice. What color/material was it before. Was it a wallpaper? Paint? Fabric? And how yellow is it? Just a spot or the whole wall?

White alkyd (oil based) paint will often yellow with age.Test on a hidden corner with a dark piece of cloth with a bit of acetone on it.If the paint comes off,it's latex------if not,it's alkyd.
Nail polish remover will work as well.Maybe it just needs to be washed.

HI,
Depend on with location of the wall and what type of house
you are staying in. And mostly water from outer layer gone
through and become yellowish.
