I have a 6 wk old daughter that has developed an acne-like rash on her face. It's tiny bumps all over and they are surrounded by a red spot. It's blotchy all over. I think that my son had it as a baby, but i can't remember what the dr told me to do. I have some Protopic, a perscription for excema, that i think could help. My son had a bit of excema as a baby but grew out of it. any thoughts on the perscription or other things that could help her little face.

I use Dreft for detergent and I haven't changed soaps. I was giving her a bath everyday, but started doing every other now thinking it was dry skin. Now it doesn't look dry just more like acne.

This sounds like baby acne. If it is, it will go away on its own. Don't put anything on it or pick at it. I would bathe the baby in water only as soap can irritate the skin. Also, Dreft has perfumes and dyes added; I would use something totally fragrance free like 7th Generation baby detergent in case she has sensitive skin.

My now 14 mth has had eczema since birth & still does.No prescription stuff on her face. The only thing advised to use on a babies face for eczema is eucerin lotion. It works the best.As far as the bumps they will go away on tere own.It just means something is irritating her face.Blankets that touch my sons face do this also.Try not to let anything touch her face as much as possible. No baby lotion or baby bath on her skin. The best thing to use on a baby W/eczema is a plain soap.CVS brand works well.Baby shampoo on her head and behind her ears.

Don't put anything on it. I think you should call the doctor. It may be heat rash. My son gets it every once in a while and I just put lotion on that. You may want to change laundry detergent too, try dreft or a non-scented brand. Good luck!

Your daughter has baby acne...completely normal and will clear up on its' own in a few days. Do not use any prescription on your daughter that isn't written for your daughter...especially excema cream...it will make the acne worse!

I wouldn't put anything prescription or adult acne related on her skin. In fact, I would just wash it with mild soap and water, and dab some breastmilk on it. Sounds crazy, but breastmilk is sterile and antiseptic, and works really well onm acne, diaper rash, and scrapes. The source below is a great article aboutthe many uses of breastmilk.

Take her to the Doc to be sure but a lot of babies get eczema, and that's what this rash sounds like. It's genetic.

They have lotions and bath products for babies that are for excemea. Try those. You can get it in just about any grocery store in the baby section.

it's probably just milk bumps. My son had them, and His Dr, said it was nothing to worry about..it went away after a couple weeks or so.
