Okay, im under 18 and want a cell phone..... parents have bad credit so cant get me one. I have a debit/credit card kinda thing and a job. Is there anyway to get a cell phone thats not prepaid? http://www.virginmobileusa.com/rates/month.do .........would something like that work? I think it says i can use cards to put on an account then they take out money monthly with no contract.... is that true? Or could I get a type of thing where they co-sign in some way? Is that possible? Im open to any and all ideas!

It's true, and there are many other cell phone service companies that do this. It's called a prepaid account. Basically you buy a prepaid phone card with all the minutes in it and you use it to call and receive phone calls until you run out of minutes on your account. If you want to continue after that, you have to buy a new phone card or keep adding money to your account.

You should stick with pre paid for now... unless you have a great paying job... Cell phones can be very expensive.. especially when you first sign up for a plan.. they charge you all those lovely hidden fee's... I have a Verizon cell phone with a plan... When I first got my phone I had to pay $181.00 and I didn't get a great phone I got the free one... It's not really free.... And if you go over your minutes, wow... I hope you have some money and keep an eye on your minutes... good luck...

You have many prepaid options.

Some prepaid plans (Verizon, Cingular) will give you a bucket of minutes and mobile to mobile free with free nights and weekends.

Under your parents, Sprint has a low deposit requirement for bad credit $150. You would be able to get a free phone.

It depends on what city you are in. You should look into US Cellular's Talk Tracker. It's prepaid, but the packages are as good as contract. It has free incoming calls and nights and weekends.

Make sure what ever you do get one that requires you to buy cards so you already have paid for it use rather than getting yourself in hock.
