Go to your local library and request the title, "Marketing Without Money" by Nicholas E Bade. There are 300 ideas for low cost and free marketing, some of which will surely help you learn ways that you can promote yourselves just like a product. You have a smaller target audience and that's really a good thing. The ideas will help you think outside the box to target only those who may appeal to your musical genre. How about a coupon handed out by music stores that buy certain CDs? You will get your own ideas on marketing. Consider having a press release done for newspaper coverage... don't pay for an ad. TV? Call the station and ask if they would like to interview you as a local interest story... even if just on a local cable or college station. Open your mind. Donate your time to charity. You'll get rewarded in many ways.

EASY. Donate your talent to the annual Xmas show that gets the most publicity. Try a veterans group and tell them you want to organize a show for them then call the paper and tv news and tell them it's happening. Sing for free, organize the group plus some musicans. If at first you don't succeed, keep on trying and eventually it will work. Without a doubt.

I have been doing this for going on 14 years and now all the musicians want to play for us for free so they can get in the papers and on tv. If you do it for veterans you'll probably get major support. When I first started doing this we had to beg the papers but over time we don't even have to call them anymore, they just show up.

Take it from one who knows,
Linda

Try auditioning for proffecional plays with singing parts in small districts or big things like Broadway. If you start singing there, you can really advertise yourself.
