You meant P/L I think, it predates almost every language so I doubt there are many today even saw a real action source code in P/L; not me at least, never saw one.

Before it viable programming alternative is Assembly, and that is **** hard to work with. Although I think some mainframe assembly in that era is a bit easier compare to what's today's assemblies.
