I have had the same problem and checked with my doctor about this. He told me that it could be caused by stress, medications, diet etc, etc. So in my case he did a simple blood test to check my thyroid and told me not to worry that all is o.k. If it does worry you check with the doctor.

Have you recently had a baby? Or lost a lot of weight? Or been coloring your hair alot? It could be related to your thyroid, or stress, or your diet. And, sometimes people just shed hair, especially in the summer ---my hairdresser told me that. I went through a period a year ago when I was losing way too much hair. It was terrible. It would come out in huge chunks in the shower. I had my thyroid checked, and that was ok. I had lost a lot of weight, by practically starving myself. Once I started eating better the hair loss stopped. There is a really great shampoo called nioxin. I think it works really well. Good Luck.
