Take a class on charm or something, read a book about it. I was cute when I was a sophmore and really outgoing in a crowd but when it came to boys I'd clam up. It's just a miserable way to be and eventually you'll grow out of it and things will be fine. Don't push yourself or you just end up putting too much pressure on yourself. Just take it easy and eventually it will come to you how to act.
One thing that seemed to work for me is not to expect to date boys from my school. Heck you all grew up together and are more like brothers and sisters, start going to events at other schools and meet a boy from scratch.
Gee I should have an advice column, haha.

No your not.....you sound alot like me...Shy but when around family or close friends you open up alot. A good idea would be to go out with friends that you are comfortable around and it will help boost your confidence to open up to others around you. You aren't lacking anything it is just a different personality type.. .SHY.Trust me when you turn 18 and everyone else has herpes or a kid....you'll be thankful that you didn't rush into anything. Your fine though,,,, plus you are still very young....experience is great and necessary but just dont get desperate and let down ur standards.

You're not lacking in anything! People start to date when they feel ready. Maybe there's a guy that likes you, but too shy to tell you! Just be yourself and smile. Does one of your girlfriends have a boyfriend who has cute and nice friends? Maybe she can introduce you! Good luck!

well think of it this way. Another day after another and nobody asks you just keep saying. There loss. It'll make you feel about about yourself instead of saying somethings wrong about you.
