Hello, I am making homemade spaghetti with meat and a very hearty sauce. We are also having bread and cheese oils, a nice salad. I live in Ohio. I am not much of a wine drinker, but prefer fruity light flavors over bold spicy flavors. He suggested he liked red and I believe it to be the best for heavy pastas, but where do I start.. My favorite Chocolate Macadamia Nut honey wine from Hawaii... Just so you see my taste... I would like to find a great tasting wine that is easily stomached not to acidity he'll love as well as I. Between 20.00-40.00 or less.
I am not a big fan of the smokey flavors or meat flavors. Thanks

You can't go wrong with Chianti MOST appropriate and Italian. I would also offer Merlot or Burgundy. Lancer's red maybe more to your taste as the others are a bit on the bold side to match the bold "hearty" sauce.

Finally, i would worry more about the acid in the sauce than any acid in the wine.

If you want to show off serve Asti Spumante as a dessert wine....with or without dessert after the meal. After two bottles of wine between you I assure you the mood is set. Either can be had for $10 or more each and I guarantee if you serve both he will be impressed with your profound knowledge of wines with dinner....don't tell him I told you!

You definitly might try to expand your wine tastes to those which are more traditional rather than apertife in nature.
Chocolate Macadamia Nut Honey is not a wine....its some watered down something called wine best served as a desert.

The traditional wine is Chianti, but I don't care for it, I like a wine that isn't too dry, and a red is generally appropriate for spaghetti. I would suggest a Merlot or perhaps a Pinot Noir.

Try a Malbec wine from Argentina. It's a dark red wine and not necessarily fruity, but it's not as dry and intense as other red wines. I like sweet wines, too, and even though Malbec is not sweet, it's pleasant and pairs well with pasta and sauces.

You just have to go with a good Amaroni. It is made by hanging the grapes and letting them dry like rasins before they are juiced.

Big bold fruit give way to a nice clean finish...perfect for a red sauce.

Good luck! I'll be over at six.......LOL

Try the brand Barefoot. I like the minot. It's pretty smooth.
