Neither group brought much to the table in terms of lyrical quality. I never understood their appeal. But then again, people are stupid, especially when it comes to music.

Rockers - Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Jimi Hendrix, Robin Trower, Raven, Metallica, Ozzy, Bullets and Octane, Alice in Chains, Dream Theater, Van Halen, Pantera

run dmc were the first rappers that actually was mainstreamed and got airplay. the beastie boys well first white rappers i believe. run dmc also helped aerosmith restart their stalled career and now they are the most demanded band right along with rolling stones and the who
