Toys would have cleared spell check, so that's not the best example.

It's the culture, that's all. Spontaneous communication like here or in chat is informal at best. You'll find that studied questions get more eloquent responses. I could point to your criticism on spell check and return with 'why don't people capitalize the beginnings of sentences?'

It's informal and a lot of fun, some choose to feel superior but I prefer to just enjoy the environment.

Spell checker won't catch the wrong word if spelled correctly and it's hard to proof read your own writing without the time to leave it for a while.

At least you could read it. Some of the posts are completely illiterate.

I don't know... perhaps they can't see the little green button on the top-right? Or maybe the spell-checker won't pick up on using the wrong word - it'll just tell you when you've misspelled a word and it isn't any other word...

This is a very good question, I often wonder this myself. Some people also seem to not even read what they write!!! It's really annoying and it just makes people look stupid!

mabey they want to sound cool or there just in a hurry to ask the question. could be that they never took a keyboarding class either. there should be a grammar check too
