yes a device called lentek..it is meant to keep out rodents...but apparently works on spiders

Spiders can't stand the smell of clove oil apparently. You can buy it in bottles from the chemist for toothache. It stinks though! Asda have spider repellants for sale - Citronella something i think they are called. They're quite good.

Yeah...a big pair of boots by the door.
Instructions:
spot offending spider,
lift said boot,
smoosh spider until all thats left is a brown stain on the carpet.
Ta Da. No more spider.

I dont live in the UK, but if there is let me know. I guess it would have to be bug spray. You have a basement you have spiders, not much you can do.

Read somewhere recently conkers laid about your home keeps them away there free.
You wont stop them as there are indoors & outside types & any way thay eat flies who sit & eat s..t
I know what I would rather have

if you mix citronella(not sure if spelt correct)oil with water and apply to a cloth and wipe over surfaces and walls this helps deter them as they have smmell sensors in there feet and dont like it
