Quite possibly. Most global superpowers last for about a hundred years before they are usurped by another. China's about to take over and leave us in the dust.

You need to be more specific in what you are wanting to compare between the USA and the USSR. Are you talking about how the countries government's operated, the amount of freedoms its citizens had, or in the eventual failure and demise of its structure and political execution.
If you are talking about the how the governments operated, are you speaking in an actual manner or in a theoretical manner? We know that during Stalin's regime he allowed the systematic murdering of millions of his own citizens to advance his ideas and programs, but this was done secretly to the rest of the world and to as many of his own citizens as possible while he publically trumpeted the incredible advancements of the Soviet people and it's embracing of science. There are too many protections built into the Constitution to allow for a situation like that to ocurr in the US, so for something like that to happen I would think that only a total breakdown of the country would have to happen.
If you want to look at the collapse of the Soviet Union in the 1990's and try and extrapolate current events and trends in the US government to find a path that the US is on that could eventually rival the USSR, you could probably find some evidence to support that, but because of the nature of the two countries political ideologies it is almost impossible to assign equal values to such a scenario.
Lastly, trying to compare the freedoms of the average Soviet citizen in the USSR and compare it to the USA and what might be diminishing personal freedoms in this country, you might have the best grounds for an argument. You will have to research exactly what was allowed of citizens in the USSR and compare them to the civil liberties that are available to people in the country.
I hope that helps. Sounds like you have a school project, so good luck.

I doubt it.America is a democracy and though many people hate our success, even more love this country for what it represents, and that is freedom.
Sure,America has plenty of problems but even with those,we are still able to feed millions in third world countries. Can North Korea do that? China?
Contrary to what anyone may tell you about USSr and
Us being virtually alike,I can assure you they were not.
As an American,I am happy that the founders of our
country spent a great deal of thought behind the
framing of our constitution. It is a brilliant document.
