Since it's on the outside and not on the inside, I'm hesitant to suggest it might be an infection - those are usually on the inside, not the outside! If you've been waxing or shaving, you might be having a histemine/shave cream reaction, which is quite normal (especially when the hair is beginning to grow back!) Do you wear panties that cotton, or are they nylon? Nylon panties are bad for you because they don't allow your skin to breathe - that becomes a breeding ground for itching and sweating. Have you recently changed your laundry soap? Your soap in the shower? Try a perfume-free body wash (dove makes an excellent one). As for stopping the itching itself, I often find non-scented products like vasiline (at bedtime) or st. ives to work well - be sure to wear a pantyliner though, so it doesn't get on your panties.
If it keeps up though, go back and see your doctor. I think it's rather appalling that they couldn't suggest what it might be at all, it doesn't sound like a very thorough appointment.

As a women bacteria for yeast infections always linger in the vaginal area. Do not use fabric softener in the washer or dryer for your bras and underwear. This should solve the problem. Also eat one yogurt a day and this will minimize the bacteria festering. If you proceed to itch then use a feminine deodorant spray but whatever you do, do not douche. Douche increases bacteria and helps it breed to the exterior. Our bodies have a natural way of cleansing such as menstrual cycles.

There is a powder made in England, called St John's Prickley heat powder, at first you may feel like yur on fire for a few minutes cause it has a cooling agent in it but it will definately stop the itch. In america you can get it probably in Walgreens in England anywhere, even sold in Thailand all over the world,l Baby power only works for 1 minute if that!

I am a guy, and I can identify with your itchiness. I had a terrible itchiness all over my balls just a few years ago.
If you are overweight, I suggest you lose weight.
I also suggest you change your diet.
Also shower everyday.
Hope that helps.
