I have recently taken up a hobby, making/blending fragrances to personalize to preferences.
I do get some real good blends, but for some reason the fragrance does not stay on long, like those which are commercially available. What could be reason?
I do use pure essential oils for aromatherapy.

I was a perfumer...
1st check for the obvious, do you use deoderant soaps? The aluminum in them will negate your fragrance.
2 All fragrances are subject to each individuals body oils and chemistry, some essences will simply get absorbed right into your skin on an individual basis. (example: cool water may last forever on you, but it only lasts a few minutes on me).
3. What is the concentration percentage of the pure essential oils vs. alcohol and water?
4. The quality of essence is key.. Even though you are starting with pure essential oils, not all are the same.
5. Apply fragrance to pulse points on your body, the wrists, the back of neck for example, the heat given off from these arae aromatize the fragrance better. Also never rub the fragrance in..allow it to be applied directly to the skin from the bottle.

Because you aren't using a fixative. Amrys, Blue Cypress, Frankincense, Labdanum, Oak Moss, Opoponox, Vetiver, Sandalwood, Galbanum, Benzion, Orris, Bergamot and Peru Balsam all slow the volatile compounds in your essential oil blends. There are animal products that 'fix' a perfume as well. Some fixatives are rather inert and hold the scent without affecting it very much, some add their own distinctive scent.

Good Luck
