Its not a disease.....its a choice...the wrong choice!!!Alcoholism is a excuse to be drunk for millions of idiots who lack any self control or better sense! We as a soceity have labeled all difficult things as a disease ..its a joke!!! My Dad died of Alcoholsim .....my brother was a dumbass fool & drank his way out of divorce but its still all a matter of choice not a damm disease!! Im not a drunk & neither was any other family member...bottomline...make the right choice...social drinking is fine btu to get downright stupid drunk destroys more than just you it destroys your loved ones around you!!

i think it may be both a disease (in some cases) and a choice that leads to a disease in other cases.

Believe it or not, alcoholism is an actual disease.
I have lost several family members to it, so I have spoken to many doctors about it.
It's a disease that can kill you just like any other. But, slowly and painfully.

There are people who are predisposed to addictions. I am of the opinion that it's genetic. Therefore, I believe that it is a disease.

I think people choose to drink alcohol (of course), but I don't think anyone chooses to become an alcoholic. It has been diagnosed as a genetic predisposition - something that can be inherited.
