Not from this diehard Democrat. The Democratic Party encompasses those who believe in a right to choose abortion and those who oppose it. We believe in gays marrying and some believe in civil unions. The fact that we believe that everyone has value regardless of their opinions, religion, no religion, sexual preference, and include them in our party is what sets us apart, thank God, from the republican party. Trying to legislate moral issues doesn't work. Abortion has been around as long as women have been getting pregnant. You can arrest people all day long for doing it illegally but it will never stop. Just look at the drug problem. Half of the people in prison are in their because they are drug USERS. What we need is a person who is for the PEOPLE. After all, these elected officials are our employees. The fact that we allow anyone in office that is not qualified and has not been successful in any other prior venture but claims to talk to God and reads the Bible is appalling. If any of the republicans practiced what they preach and read in the Bible, this country would not be in the trouble that is in. After all, they have had a majority in Congress as well as the Senate and the Presidency. Instead of lining the pockets of the rich and crushing the middle-class and the poor, they could have stooped the practice of abortion, IF they really wanted to, done the same for same-sex marriage and a host of other issues that Bush and company ran on for TWO elections. Unfortunately, abortion and gay marriage are only campaign tactics to get people to the polls. If abortion was ever banned, Republicans wouldn't be in the Presidency for at least 20-30 years.

um, why would you want to? It appears to me that all this irrational hatred of 'liberalism' does not take into account that liberalism is one of the main principles that this country was founded on. Some of the greatest progresses made in this country were created by liberals. The civil rights movement, the labor rights movement, environmental stewardship. Liberalism is progressive, conservatism regressive.
All that aside though, the 2 major parties have a stranglehold on discourse. We need more parties and we need to simplify the rules on involvement in poliitics, from the local, state and federal levels. Otherwise, you are only get a choice of which of the two parties (whose differences are mostly symbolic) fields the least bad candidate.

notably lots an identical undertaking. the hardship with liberals is basically that they be attentive to lots that may no longer so. The Liberal ideology is a thought , fostered by making use of a delusional, illogical minority and which holds forth ideals that have not any foundation fairly. they are Advocates of a coverage that empowers a solid federal government to enslave its those with a extreme tax burden incident to the help of extravagant and pointless social classes unfavourable to the two the artwork ethic between the decrease classification, and the motivation to innovate and prevail between the working classification. "whilst the human beings discover that they might vote themselves money, which will usher in the tip of the republic." Liberals opt to spend different peoples money!! the subject concerns we are dealing with in the present day are because of the fact the human beings who artwork for a living are outnumbered by making use of people who vote for a living. @

I don't consider myself a member of either party nor a member of a fringe third party.
I vote for the individual I think is best suited regardless of Party affiliation and I think the USA would be better off if more people did this as well.
However because todays liberals are so entrenched in the Democratic party and todays liberals are freaking idiots, I tend to find myself siding almost 100% with the Republican party.. Conservatives ( Not the ultra right wing conservative. some of them are just as bad as liberals) have the most common sense.
But I agree with Common Sense above. Lieberman is the Dems best chance but it ain't going to happen. The Freak liberals will hang him out to dry because he is friendly in his personal life with certain conservatives.

Can you get an "Amen"? ROFLMFAO!
Uh, no.
What you've described as a "conservative Democrat" is nothing greater than a far-right activist Republican Fundamentalist Xtian.
If you're not satisfied with the Democratic party, simply change your political affiliation and stop your whining. Jeez.
Can you get an 'Amen'...
Best Wishes!

Because that is against what the party stands for now adays,
Those are the values of the Republicans now adays.
But this is really normal for this to happen, all of the parties over time change thier values and new parties get created

I'll give a qualified Amen, what we really need is a totally new train of political thought, but as that isn't likely to happen I'll settle for a centrist candidate.

The last GREAT democrate was JFK and he didn't play ball with the LIBERALS .
He didn't raise taxes .
He didn't want war with Cuba .
He didn't want war in Viet Nam .
He didn't want a WELFARE STATE .
He didn't want legalized abortion .
He wasn't a LIBERAL .
He conveniently ASSASINATED and one of the worst LIBERALS of all time became President .Nearly everything JFK didn't want came to pass.
The true DEMOCRATE PARTY was destroyed and this nation has suffered eversince . Where have all the good jobs gone after being taxed to death ? Clinton sent them to Mexico .
Look at Joe Lieberman , middle of the road democrate , turned on by the party after years of service .
If he wins reelection , he may be murdered to get a liberal appointed .
