my mum had very heavy periods. so much so that she had to wear pads similar to what they give to old people who are incontinent. she was cramping a lot and found it difficult to stand. when they scanned her, they found that she had an extreme ase of fibroids. they asked her to come back and they took a scraping from them to check for disease. from what i could hear (i was sitting outside the room) this was somewhat of a painful experience.

in the end, they decided to operate and give her a full hysterectomy. they said that her cervix and everything else that they removed was severly inflammed when they took it out. it took her about 3-4 months to recover.

its a year later now and she still gets the odd twitch where the scar is (which is only about 10cm long) but otherwise she is fine. she says its the best thing that she has ever done because now she can just get on with her life. i hope this helps!

hi. i suffer from really really bad periods and I usally bleed for 28 days and then have a day or maybe two off from it. I first suffered from it when I was 18 and after 3 years of being told to go on all these various pills etc and scans I finally had a laparoscopy for them to find that I had endiometriosis, when they had scraped it away I was fine and now at 24 it's come back again so once again I have to go through all the routine checks. So you may not have fibroids after all.

I just had fibroid surgery for the second time in 15 months. It sounds as though you have fibroids. That is the number one symptom. My cycles were so heavy that I went through 8 super plus pads with tampons everyday.

my mother has the same problem, her symptom is a heavy menstrual flow. she tried some herbal medication (chinese or indian) but i guess they didn't help because her fibroids are really big. Since she is now 49 with a completed family, the doctors told her about a year and a half ago that if it ever gets uncomfortable she can remove her uterus but if not she can go ahead and wait until she stops menstrating. in your case i think you can try some herbal or prescribed medications. hopefully it will work for you but if not you can get just the fibroids removed it is not neccessary for u to remove your uterus. GOD BE WITH YOU ALL THE WAY THROUGH THIS.

Yes. It's just an ultra sound. I was also tested for the fibroids to see if they were cancerous. A thin wire was inserted in me. Since I have a high pain tolerance the doctor actually inserted the wire in me twice. He said most people can't take it the first time. It was quite wierd feeling.

The doctor said to leave them in as long as there is no pain because the surgery to remove them is so invasive. He also said that you can still carry a baby to term with them.

fibroids suck! They can affect a woman in soooo many ways from mild symptoms to more serious. Don't wait for them to go away at menapause. It's ur body and u have a right to be as healthy as possible. Fibroids can multiply and grow affecting ur sex life, moods etc...
Good Luck to you and don't be afraid to get a second opinion.

Uterine fibroids are usually not dangerous, but can cause immense discomfort and lead to complications like anemia from heavy blood loss. In rare cases, they may cause complications that affect pregnancy.

In cases where there are no symptoms, treatment may not be necessary. However, proper diagnosis and treatment may be required if your symptoms are severe or causing complications. Along with conventional treatment, you can try some natural home remedies. Read here https://tr.im/iTgK5

I had very heavy periods and had fibroids, I was always anaemic and took iron tablets. also I had to have a couple of blood transfusions then had a total hysterectomy, admittedly physically my health improved but I lost my mojo.
