I did notice the moon early last evening. It was breathtakingly huge and beautifully orange-red. I don't know where you live, but there was some cloudiness in my area, and that blocked out the stars. However, being that the moon was full and very bright, the moon light probably blocked out the starlight. Sort of like the effect of light pollution.

Yes, wonderful moon in England. Very big and clear.
Older people call it a "Bomber's Moon" because clear night like that during the Blitz in WWII made it very easy for the bombers to find their targets, especially in cities which are normally built around rivers.

It also has to do with where you are on the planet. From where I was it didn't look that close and while I could tell it was bright, we had plenty of clouds in the way so we only got itty bitty peaks of it.
Glad you got to view her in all her Glory from where you were, however! Thursday night was much better for viewing her from where I live.

Yeah the harvest moon was out. The moon was dazzling last night. It was really big in the sky and was a really deep yellow color.
