As far as i know there is no cure for a hiatus hernia, just watch what upsets it, eg, fatty foods, fizzy drinks, spirits, spicy foods, ask your GP for an ant-acid, or go to a herbalist and ask what they can recommend..

Re-flux acid can be stopped either by over the counter medicines such as Remegel or Gaviscon. If the symptoms persist, your doctor
can prescribe something like Omaprozole which will relieve the symptoms for 24 hours at a time.
Having smaller meals and reducing your drinking will definitely help - but its no fun.

Have you been diagnosed with that. If not, get checked for Helicobacter Pylori, it is a bacteria that lives in the gut, and causes burning pain, and acid reflux. It can lead to stomach ulcers, and even stomach cancer. I had the test and was positive, a simple course if anti biotics cured the problem, it is worth getting checked, i have been right as rain since, yet i suffered years of discomfort.

If you know you have a hiatal hernia and not esophageal reflux or other - then the "cure" is usually surgical. However it has to be severe for that, so generally sleeping with the head elevated; take antacids, avoid foods which cause the problem and avoid the booze.

Hiatal hernias are treated with surgery if the case is severe enough.
Otherwise, you either lose weight, don't lie down after meals, and eat healthier.

I had the same problem especially after alcohol and certain foods not necessarily spicy.
I have now been prescribed omeprazole which has helped considerably.

Have you been diagnosed with it? If not you should see your GP to make sure. Sometimes the symptoms you are suggesting may be an ulcer.
