is anyone else confused about the difference between jalapenos and red peppers?

You might want to try your question in the food/ethnic food category, not in Italy. But why are you confused-there are many many different kinds of peppers-those just being two of them. You'd be amazed at the world of peppers-serranos, habenaro, red, yellow, green, etc. etc. etc. My favorite is chipotle-which is smoked jalapeno.
