Don't say Spain or the Canaries or Turkey or Egypt... [went to Egypt before and hated it, turkey has a bomb situation at the moment and everyone goes to Spain!]..

What do you think about: Capri, Florence, Andorra, Madeira, Naples, Sardinia, Venice... what's the weather like in these countries in November.. or any other suggestions? She's into culture....

btw it's 5 days so going far like Cuba and Japan would not be worth it.. you need two weeks at least to enjoy those countries!!

Venice is fantastic, very romantic. I loved it there, we only went for 2 days but there is lots to see - you need good walking shoes!
Why not have a two centre holiday - combine Venice and Florence, that way neither of you will get bored and there is so much to see.
November should still be ok for the weather.
We went in August and it rained the whole time.

I would visit Carcassonne in southern France, surrounded by the Pyrenees it is Europes oldest and most beautifull town. Shocking things happened there to the Cathars, and the historic town is perfectly preserved. There are several brilliant hostels that you can stay in the countryside surounding the town(around £10 p/n). Hire a bike and explore.... get lost in history. Visit Cafe Felix, drink a cold biere and read 'Labyrinth' by Kate Mosse (essential if you go!). The food there is rustic french and very good, the people are warm and down to earth. In November it should be cooling off nicely, perfect for long cycles and walks in the mountains. And from £30 easyjet return from london, it is hard to beat.

Hi

You don't say when you are going but

Venice is a lovely place to go and if you are going for 5 days you maybe able to put in a day trip to Florence or vise versa.

You could also try Prague, Budapest or Croatia which will all be cheaper. Not that many people go to Croatia or Budapest at the moment.

Venice is beautiful and romantic no matter what time of year or the weather! Although November can be very nice. It has so much culture and it's beautifully relaxing at the same time!! Hope you have a nice break!

Take your mate to Venice! True, 5 days isn't so long, but a short trip is enough to whet your appetite for an extended trip at a later date. Enjoy!
